Maldon Food Bank   Ann Frost visited the food Bank at the Elim Church last week to find out a little more about this resource and who they have helped in our area. While she was there she was shown around the food storage area and shown the packs that are given out each week.  She was told that between 28/30 packs can be distributed every week. These packs include Weetabix, pasta, tinned food, tea, dried milk, beans etc. This is a basic food pack for one person for a week. Different packs are given out to families.

She was advised that most of the people receiving these will receive a pack for 8 weeks and they are then assessed to see if they should be given food on a regular basis.  The supermarkets pass on goods that are nearly out of date and while she was there she saw a lot of eggs, fruit and onions which had been donated by Morrisons and fresh bread rolls from M&S.

Any food given by the supermarkets with a close use by date is passed on to the Roberts’ family so it appears that nothing is wasted.

To help this valuable and much needed resource, please donate jam, marmalade, fruit squash, tins of beans; rice pudding and custard. Long life milk, Weetabix, cereals and sweets.

At the moment they are especially in need of fruit cordial, long life milk and meals in tins

Please place any items in the box in the entrance hall and Ann will update us further on items required.

This poem was written by Dennis and was read in last week’s service and at his home group

In the Garden there He stood,

Knowing why God had sent Him,

To suffer for man His destiny,

Standing with his twelve chosen,

Yet so alone, nothing in the Garden could compare

to the Rose standing there.

They came, he betrayed the Son of Man,

Led by silver in one’s hand,

The Rock stood there to protect,

A flash, a knife and an ear falls,

Jesus made his as before,

His love for man came through again.

On the Cross His head a crown of thorns,

His petals at the base all torn,

The Winter comes, the seeds lay deep,

In the Spring comes the Eternal Rose.

2nd April – Ann Frost
9th April – Valerie Lamb
16th/23rd/30th April – Richard Little.

Deacons The Elders and Deacons have been thinking and praying about the number and roles of the Deacons here at Fullbridge.  As a result, we feel that it would be desirable to appoint an extra Deacon – the particular gaps identified are:

– Communication across the Fellowship

– Stimulating prayer (particularly regarding the missionaries that     we support as a Fellowship).

– Administration and organisation amongst the Deacons.

– Care for the needy.

(We are not necessarily looking for someone to ‘plug’ all these gifts!)

We ask that the church prayerfully consider this and (without mentioning it to the individual) let an Elder know if you feel that someone might be suitable to join the team of Deacons.

Thank you to Anne Reeve for the beautiful flower displays that she has done for Fullbridge recently.  We really appreciate her gift of flower arranging.
