News for 5 March

Welcome to this morning’s all age service.  The service leader is Andy Mugford and the speaker is Clive Westall.  Please join us for tea and coffee in the back hall after the service.

Tea and Coffee rota  Rob Bennett and Rob Lamb are responsible for tea and coffee today and next week it will be Carolyn Hammond and Gavin Fuller.

Please join us at 10.10  in the upstairs youth room for  prayer before the service.  Everyone is invited especially if you are involved in the service or with the children’s groups.

Saturday 18th March 2017 10am-12 noon URC Church Hall,  Maldon – Free Children’s Crafts Morning.  Come along and enjoy crafts and activities with Mother’s Day and Easter themes. Children over six can be left, subject to numbers, younger children need to be accompanied.  Free drinks and hot cross buns. Just turn up on the day. 11th March at BREC  Half Day seminar on the Second Coming at BREC next Saturday.   If you are planning to go to the seminar please let Paul Gymer know as soon as possible so that BREC know the numbers for catering.

A Day Away with Reaching Women for Christ  is in Harlow on Saturday 1st April with the title ‘Where is God when it hurts?’ It starts at 9.30 am and finishes at 4 pm. Rachel is going and would love to take some ladies with her!

Spring cleaning day Make a note in your diary that there will be a Church Spring cleaning day on Saturday 6th May.

At the annual Fellowship Meeting  and bring and share tea on Sunday afternoon of the 19th March the two home groups who will be responsible for setting up and clearing away after the meeting are Michael and Paul’s.  The draft agenda is on the notice board.  If there are any items you would like to add please pass them on, in writing, to Andrew Mugford by 12th March.

Suspended Coffee Scheme –  “The Black Cat Cafe” in Wenlock Way Maldon is registered with  the “suspended coffee” scheme.    This means that if you buy a coffee in the cafe you can also buy a coffee voucher which will remain in the shop and can be used by someone else who is need of a coffee but, for whatever reason, cannot afford to buy one because they are homeless or unemployed and are struggling to make ends meet.

Home Groups  will be meeting for communion and prayer this week as follows:

Judith and Roger’s group will be meeting at Richard and Sheila’s.

Carol and Phil’s group – please contact your home group leaders for details.

Richard and Sarah’s group will be meeting at Gavin and Kate’s.

The Friday group will be meeting at Peter and Valerie’s.

Sunday morning children’s activities

On the first Sunday of the month we all stay together in Church. On the remaining Sundays the children join the first part of the service, then go to separate parts of the building for their activities.

We have three groups:

Mustard: an Early Years group, who meet upstairs.

Pepper and Mustard+  Infant and Junior groups, for up to secondary school age, who meet downstairs in the back hall.

Salt: a group for School Years 7 to 11, upstairs in the Youth Room on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

Maldon Food Bank If you would like to contribute there is a box in the entrance hall for donations of non-perishable food.
