News for Sunday the 26th

Welcome to this morning’s service.  The speaker today is Phil Machin and the service leader is Michael Chambers.

Tea and Coffee rota  Phil Rowden and Peter Lamb are responsible for tea and coffee today and next week it will be Rob Bennett and Rob Lamb.

Please join us at 10.00  in the upstairs youth room for prayer before the service.  Everyone is invited especially if you are involved in the service or with the children’s groups.  If you would like someone to pray with you after the service Michael Chambers and Richard Little will be available.

Café Church at Fullbridge – This afternoon 4-5pm    An informal service suitable for friends not used to church.  The theme will be “Christianity”  Irrelevant today…?

Also this afternoon we are responsible for the service at Longfields at 4.00pm.

Women’s World Day of Prayer :_ Friday 3rd March, 2017 .  All are welcome and it is entitled “Am I being unfair to you?”  – praying for the Philippines. (The word ‘Women’ is included in the title, the service is written by women, it encourages all people to pray for the country in the title, and for the many other countries where women have no official position.)

Morning – United Reformed Church – Service at 10.30am  Coffee at 10.00am
Evening – All Saints Church – Service at 7.30pm, followed by refreshments

11th March at BREC  Half Day seminar on the Second Coming at BREC.  If you are planning to go to the seminar please let Paul Gymer know as soon as possible so that BREC know the numbers for catering.Counties Day Conference is on Saturday 4th March with the title of ‘Shine Like Stars’. We’ve found these days to be very stimulating and encouraging. It is in Slough and starts at 10.30 am and finishes around 4.30 pm. If you would like a lift Andy and Rachel would be more than happy to take you. Please do ask them if you would like any more information. A free lunch is included! There is also a children’s and youth programme.

A Day Away with Reaching Women for Christ  is in Harlow on Saturday 1st April with the title ‘Where is God when it hurts?’ It starts at 9.30 am and finishes at 4 pm. Rachel is going and would love to take some ladies with her!

At the annual Fellowship Meeting   on Sunday afternoon 19th March the two home groups who will be responsible for setting up and clearing away after the meeting are Michael and Paul’s.

1 – Why was Jesus hated and why are believers hated today (vv.18-19)?

What are our own experiences of how we are treated by the world?

2 – What sin were the people of Jesus’s day guilty of (v.22)? Does this apply today?

3 – If the world is so opposed to the gospel and to Christians, should we look to limit our involvement with the world as much as possible?

Sunday morning children’s activities

On the first Sunday of the month we all stay together in Church. On the remaining Sundays the children join the first part of the service, then go to separate parts of the building for their activities.

We have three groups:

Mustard: an Early Years group, who meet upstairs.

Pepper and Mustard+  Infant and Junior groups, for up to secondary school age, who meet downstairs in the back hall.

Salt: a group for School Years 7 to 11, upstairs in the Youth Room on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

Maldon Food Bank If you would like to contribute there is a box in the entrance hall for donations of non-perishable food.

Notices  If you have any items for the notices please let Sheila Little have them by Friday lunch time.  

If you borrow anything from the church please make a note on the list on the notice board in the kitchen of the date you borrow it and then put the date when it is returned.
