News | Sunday, 24 April

Welcome to this morning’s service Our speaker today is Phil Webb and the service leader is Ross Power.   Please join us for tea and coffee in the back room after the service.

Sunday morning prayer meeting A prayer meeting, to which all are invited, is held at 10:10 am. Do join us in the Youth room upstairs as we prepare for the service in this very important way.

Coffee rota Carolyn Hammond and Gavin Fuller are responsible for tea and coffee this morning and next week it will be Richard and Shirley Hornett.

Prayer If you would like prayer after the service someone will be available.

Open House has been cancelled this evening. It was due to be held at Simon and Judy’s but they have gone to visit Simon’s mum who had a fall and broke her hip.

CAMEO If you are free tomorrow afternoon please join us at CAMEO at 2.00pm where we will be taking a quick trip to Australia and New Zealand without having to leave our chairs or having to make a long plane trip!

Richard and Sheila would like to say “Thank you” to everyone who was involved in organising the tea, the beautiful flowers and other surprises last Sunday afternoon and to all those who gave up their Sunday afternoon to be there. Thank you to the children for the biscuits and the wonderful poster which they did. We have enjoyed looking at the pictures which have a relevance to the places we have been and the things we enjoy doing. Richard and I were very moved by it all and, after getting over the “shock” as we had no idea what was going on, really enjoyed it. Thank you again.   It is a great privilege to be part of such a lovely family of people. With love from Richard and Sheila

Lydia Mugford   Andy and Rachel heard from Lydia last week. The placement continues to go very well – she sounded very settled and enjoying the breadth of activities they are letting her in on at the hospital.

She has been working on the maternity ward  – and in on 2 Caesareans as well as seeing some rather extraordinary surgeries.  She leaves the hospital Wednesday and then flies from Harare on Friday.

Queen’s Birthday If you would like a copy or copies of “The Servant Queen and the King she serves” which is being published by The Bible Society to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, please sign up on the sheet, which is now on the notice board in the rear hall, as soon as possible.

We will be continuing the series “How to Love your Church” at the following homes.

Prayer and Praise points from Hannah Bostock

Hannah is 2/3rds of the way through a placement in her student-home church in Guildford.  She updates us with the following:-

I wanted to say a massive thank you for all your support recently it has been such an answer to prayer.  It’s so wonderful to have people standing with me, and the work I’m doing, in prayer.

 Here are my Praise points

  • Praise God for His continued provision, even when I doubt Him – He still provides. This is very humbling.
  • Praise God for a new job and also an opportunity to share my testimony with my new co-workers.

Here are my Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for my co-workers and the children that I am working with in my new job (an after-school club), that I may be able to speak truth to their lives and show them God’s love and grace.
  • Please pray that in the courses I run with my Church that we will keep having opportunities to talk about what God has done in our lives.
  • And lastly please pray that I get better soon. I have quite a bad cold at the moment and have nearly lost my voice, so would really appreciate prayers for recovery.

Thank you again for your support – Hannah Bostock
